About the Center

Vajrayana Kadampa Buddhist Center was founded by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso as a non-profit organization and member of the New Kadampa Tradition-International Kadampa Buddhist Union. The New Kadampa Tradition is a western Buddhist tradition with no political affiliations that follows the pure Mahayana Buddhist teachings of Atisha (AD 982 - 1054) and Je Tsongkhapa (AD 1357 - 1419), as presented for contemporary society by modern-day Buddhist master, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso (b. 1931).  Our purpose is to introduce the Buddhist faith by offering classes on meditation and Buddhism for all levels of interest and experience, as well as to exemplify Buddhist faith and practice.
