Study Programs

Geshe Kelsang Gyatso has designed three special spiritual study programmes for the systematic study and practice of Kadampa Buddhism that are especially suited to the modern world: the General Program (our drop-in meditation classes), the Foundation Program, and the Teacher Training Program.

The General Program

The General Program consists of all of our drop-in meditation classes, day courses, empowerments. It involves no specific commitment and every event is self-contained. Through attending the General Program one gains a broad overview of Buddha's teachings and how to put them into practice.

The Foundation Program

The Foundation Program provides an opportunity to deepen our understanding and experience of Buddhism through a systematic study of six texts. It is designed for those people who wish to study Buddha's teachings in more depth than is available at General classes. It takes a more structured approach and classes consist of readings, teachings, discussions, chanted prayers and meditations. Each subject concludes with an examination.

The Teacher Training Program

The Teacher Training Program is intended for those wishing to make a lifelong commitment to the study and practice of Kadampa Buddhis. It is structured similarly to the Foundation Program but studies a curriculum of twelve texts that cover the entire range of Buddhist thought including Sutra and Tantra.
