Wishfulfilling Jewel
Please feel free to join us for this practice. It is our daily practice, and we try to offer it at the center as much as we can. It is the main path Kadampa Buddhists use to accumulate good karma, purify negative karma, and engage in meditation on the path to enlightenment. It is perfect for beginners as the practice is not very long but contains all the essential meanings of Kadampa Buddhism. On Monday evening we engage in a more condensed practice Heart Jewel that allows us more time for meditation.
Currently we are holding this practice at:
Monday: 7:00 pm
Tuesday: 7:30 am
Wednesday: 4:30 pm
Friday: 5:30 pm
Sunday: 3:00 pm with tsog
Please make sure to check the calendar because sometimes these times change due to other pujas or events. Feel free to attend, these sessions are open for everyone.
More about the practice
In all Kadampa Buddhist Centers one of our heart commitments is to engage daily in the practice of Je Tsongkhapa. Je Tsongkhapa---an emanation of the Wisdom Buddha Manjushri---appeared in Tibet in the 14th century to establish a very special presentation of Buddha's teachings. He received these teachings directly from Manjushri and passed them on to us. He is the founder of the New Kadampa lineage of Buddhism.
By engaging in the practice of making offerings and requests to this great teacher, we increase our capacity to understand and put into practice the very profound Dharma that all Kadampas study, and thereby make progress on Buddha's path to enlightenment as explained and presented by Je Tsongkhapa. We then conclude the practice by making offerings to our Dharma protector.
The Dharma Protector Dorje Shugden
A Dharma Protector is an enlightened being---a Buddha---who appears in a fearsome form to protect us from obstacles and ensure that our activities flourish. While there are many Dharma protectors, the principal Dharma protector for the Kadampa tradition is the Buddha Manjushri appearing in the aspect of the great king Dorje Shugden.

Dorje Shugden is the manifestation of wisdom, compassion, and spiritual power. By relying on him we come under his care and increase our own good qualities of wisdom, compassion and spiritual power enabling us to solve our problems and help others do the same.
