Details
An authentically pure and peaceful world must begin by developing a compassionate, pure and peaceful mind. Why? Because the world we experience -- whether corrupt and scary or pure and harmonious -- is a reflection or experience of our mind. Therefore, if we change our mind from impure to pure, we will naturally transform our world for the better, especially when motivated for the welfare and happiness of all.
A powerful method to make our mind pure is through the Buddhist practice of making mandala offerings -- offering an imagined pure land, a world in which everyone is free from suffering, pervaded by beauty, harmony, and all wonderful things. In this practice we will spend time in meditation envisioning such pure lands and offering them to the Buddhas. Envisioning such pure lands is especially important right now when we are constantly bombarded with pessimistic and despairing news.
This is a joyful and highly creative practice through which we:
purify our mind of ordinary, impure states of mind
create the cause to be free from future poverty and attain a Buddha's Pure Land
develop pure concentration, and
accumulate vast amounts of positive energy and good fortune, known as merit, which is the source of all our present and future happiness.
Each session will include practical instruction, guided meditation, and time for questions. No previous experience is necessary, and absolutely everyone is welcome!
