Please join us for a free introductory class to find out more about this systematic and specially designed study program, the Foundation Program offered at KMC Chicago.
The Foundation Program (FP) is one of the three levels of study in Kadampa Buddhism, and gives you the opportunity to engage in a structured study and meditation program on the essential teachings of the Buddhist spiritual path. Click here to read more about this class.
This class is currently studying the book, Joyful Path of Good Fortune: The Complete Buddhist Path to Enlightenment, by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. In November, it will beging a new major section of the book, with study & meditation on The Great Scope -- Meditations on Love, Compassion, Concentration & Wisdom.
Interested students may wish to consider joining at this time, with the class beginning a new major section of the book. But the class is open for new students to join at any time.
SCHEDULE
Sunday, November 1
- 5pm - 6pm: Introduction to Foundation Program
- 6pm - 8pm: Foundation Program class
Everyone is welcome to attend the introduction, 5-6pm. Those who want to experience what a regular FP class is like are also invited to stay for the class portion, which goes until 8pm. On following Sundays, the class will meet 5-8pm.
LOCATION
Currently being held online. When safe to do so, the class will return to being held in person at our Oak Park location.
TEACHER
Gen Kelsang Zamling is a modern Buddhist monk and the Resident Teacher for KMC Chicago. Having studied, practiced, and taught Buddhist meditation for many years, he is adept at guiding both new and experienced meditators with warmth and clarity.
BOOKS
This class is currently studying Joyful Path of Good Fortune: The Complete Buddhist Path to Enlightenment. It's helpful, but not necessary, to have a copy of the book for this introductory class. Students who join the class should plan on purchasing a copy, either from our bookstore or directly from Tharpa Publications.
COST
This "Introduction to FP" class is free.
If you're interested in joining, you can also try two regular classes for free. Those who join the class full-time pay $80 per month, year-round.
